CHARLOTTE — Seeking offensive improvements, the Panthers brought in Frank Reich as head coach last offseason. However, after an underwhelming 1-10 start to the current season, the Panthers have decided to part ways with Reich.
Owner David Tepper announced on Monday that Reich would no longer continue as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers. Tepper expressed gratitude for Reich’s dedication and service while wishing him well in future endeavors.
Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will step in as the interim head coach with immediate effect. Additionally, senior assistant Jim Caldwell will serve as a special advisor to offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, who will take over play-calling duties.
After 11 weeks, the Panthers find themselves near the bottom of the league in both total offense and scoring. They have struggled to surpass 15 points in a game since the bye week and currently rank 30th in total offense and 30th in passing yards per game.
This performance falls short of expectations set during the offseason when Reich was hired with the specific goal of building a coaching staff to develop Bryce Young, the No. 1 overall pick and former Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young
