Virat Kohli Takes Timeout: Skips T20Is and ODIs for South Africa Tour, Focuses on Test Matches

Virat Kohli Takes a Break from T20Is and ODIs: Test Matches Still in Sight

Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has decided to take a break from One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 International cricket (T20), as reported by Indian media outlets. While he won’t be participating in the T20I and ODI matches during the upcoming South Africa tour, Kohli has confirmed his commitment to the Test matches and communicated this decision to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The South Africa tour, kicking off with the T20 International in Durban on December 10, includes three T20 Internationals, three ODIs, and two Test matches. Kohli’s absence from the shorter formats marks a notable change for the Indian team.

Known for his stellar performance in the recent World Cup, where he scored an impressive 765 runs in 11 innings, including three centuries, Kohli emerged as the tournament’s best player. Notably, he surpassed cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries.

Currently, Kohli is taking a well-deserved break and enjoying a vacation in London. This decision follows a demanding schedule of continuous cricket in recent months. Kohli had previously taken a break before the World Cup, opting for rest alongside captain Rohit Sharma for the first two ODIs against Australia back in September.
