The 650-year-old al-Omari mosque in Gaza was martyred in the Israeli bombing

The Israeli military, through airstrikes, has destroyed the oldest mosque in Gaza, which was over 650 years old.

In the Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7, several mosques with historical significance and national heritage status have been targeted, causing complete destruction to many, while over a hundred others have suffered partial damage.

According to news sources, the Israeli military, in a brutal bombing campaign, targeted and demolished the oldest and largest historical mosque in Gaza, which was built 650 years ago. Images of the demolished mosque, verified by Al Jazeera, have been circulated by the Quds News Network on the social media platform, Twitter.

It’s important to note that the ongoing Israeli bombardment in Gaza has not only resulted in the destruction of thousands of homes and the martyrdom of mosques but has also caused severe damage to Gaza’s ancient cultural sites.

According to the organization “Heritage for Peace,” more than 100 cultural centers in Gaza have been destroyed since October 7. It should be highlighted that the Israeli attacks in Gaza, ongoing since October 7, have led to the martyrdom of over 17,000 Palestinians and left more than 46,000 injured.
