Russia Calls for UN Conference to Address Israel-Palestine Conflict

Moscow: Russia has called for a United Nations conference to seek a delayed resolution to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

According to news agencies, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has requested a conference involving representatives from the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Lavrov stated that the United Nations should convene a global conference to end the Israel-Palestine conflict, and he is confident that the UN Secretary-General is capable of taking this initiative.

He said that, in his view, the sole solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict is to organize an international conference with permanent members of the UN Security Council.

Sergei Lavrov further stated that the situation for Palestinian civilians is worsening day by day, despite the promise of the establishment of a Palestinian state. The conditions in Gaza are deteriorating with each passing day.

On the other hand, President Joe Biden has mentioned that Israel has the support of the United States and the European Union but is losing international support due to the continuous bombing in Gaza affecting children, women, and innocent civilians.

It is worth noting that Australia, Canada, and New Zealand have also expressed concerns about the killing of innocent civilians in the Israeli bombing in Gaza, calling for a durable ceasefire.

The leaders of these three countries said in a joint statement that defeating Hamas should not mean putting innocent Palestinian civilians in constant distress. It should be noted that the number of Palestinians killed in Israeli aggression since October 7 in Gaza has exceeded 18,000, while nearly 50,000 are injured.
