Najmul Hossain Shanto to Lead Bangladesh in Limited-Overs Cricket

Najmul Hossain Shanto Takes Charge as Captain for Bangladesh’s ODIs and T20Is in New Zealand Tour

During the upcoming tour of New Zealand next month, Bangladesh cricketer Najmul Hossain Shanto will assume the leadership in both one-day internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 internationals (T20Is).

The tour, scheduled from December 17 to December 31, comprises three ODIs and three T20Is.

Najmul, currently leading Bangladesh’s Test side in a home series against New Zealand, takes on these new roles due to the unavailability of regular limited-overs captain Shakib Al Hasan.

Shakib is not part of the series as he is actively involved in politics, running as a candidate for the ruling Awami League in the upcoming general election on January 7.

For the white-ball tour in New Zealand, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will serve as Najmul’s deputy. The ODI squad for the New Zealand series sees the return of batsman Liton Das, and the inclusion of uncapped left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan.
