Imran Khan Appeals to Supreme Court: Safeguarding Rights and Ensuring Electoral Integrity

Imran Khan Urges Supreme Court Intervention for Protection of Fundamental Rights and Electoral Integrity

Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has penned a letter to Justice Qazi Faez Isa, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), urging the Supreme Court to ensure the protection and preservation of fundamental rights for all citizens.

Supported by substantial evidence, the letter raises concerns about the widespread misuse of fake cases and arrests, specifically targeting individuals associated with PTI. Emphasizing the crucial role of the highest court, Khan underscores the necessity to safeguard individuals’ fundamental rights and curtail the abuse of legal processes, including the filing of false cases and arbitrary detentions. The letter also draws attention to troubling incidents, such as the prolonged confinement of PTI-affiliated women since May 9, and instances where High Courts issued arrests in undisclosed cases without subsequent implementation.

Furthermore, the letter contends that a fair general election scheduled for February 8 would be challenging without the intervention of the highest court. Khan advocates for the establishment of a commission to ensure an impartial and transparent electoral process.

In a bid to address broader human rights issues, Mr. Khan calls for the formation of a committee to investigate the disappearances of journalists and political workers. This proactive stance reflects the nation’s commitment to resolving human rights concerns and ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights. Recognizing the Supreme Court’s pivotal role in fostering a just and equitable environment, free from arbitrary interventions and political persecution, Khan seeks its active involvement in these critical matters.
